Independent software
Tools that do what they need to do.
And let you get on with your work.
We build software for people who prefer control over complexity. Some projects are open source. Others are services. All built with the same care.

Each tool solves a real problem.

Your notes, on your computer. Your AI, your way.

Why LowBloat
Keep what matters.
Give it room to work.
Focus on the essentials
Features that solve problems. Interfaces that don't compete for your attention. Complete in what they do. Simple where you use them.
Real control
In LowNotes, you keep your files, AI is optional, and you choose the model. Freedom starts with small, practical choices.
An honest model
Open source and paid services can coexist. We're clear about what you can use freely and what you pay for, so we can keep building for the long term.
No fine print
What's open, what costs money
and what's still being built.
Each product has its own model. LowNotes is open source, published on GitHub under AGPL-3.0. LowDesk is closed source and will be offered as a subscription service. Each product page explains its license and availability.
The app is free and open source. For remote AI models, you configure your own provider and pay any fees it charges. Local models are also an option. A possible sync service hosted by LowBloat is being studied and isn't available yet.
No. Notes stay on your computer, and current sync connects paired devices via P2P. The connection may use Iroh's discovery and relay infrastructure, but LowBloat doesn't keep a central copy of your notes. If you use remote AI, the query and selected passages are sent to your chosen provider.
We haven't announced a commercial launch yet. LowDesk is in development; plans, pricing, and terms will be shared when the service is ready. You can explore the idea and current stage on the product page.
You can test LowNotes, report bugs, suggest improvements, review the documentation, or submit a pull request on GitHub. Use issues to report problems and discuss suggestions. Financial support channels will be shared when they're defined.
